New Library Staff for Fall 10
We’re delighted to introduce three new members of the Library staff:
Susan High and Mike Fazio are our two new Circulation/Reference Specialists. Susan comes to us after 18 years as the Circulation Supervisor in the Bologna Center Library. Mike is a recent graduate of Fordham University, where he majored in political science and worked in the college library. His experience also includes work in a law firm library and with the non-profit Books for America.
Jenny Adams is our new Library Assistant. A recent graduate of Ohio State University, Jenny will be staffing the Circulation Desk selected Saturdays and evenings. Jenny will also be heavily involved in posting electronic reserves for SAIS students. Labels: Library staff, New F10
4 great new databases for SAIS
We're pleased to announce four new research databases of interest to SAISers...Ethnographic Video Online is a large collection of ethnographic films and documentaries. Currently it contains about 300 videos and will grow to 1,000 videos at its completion. The collection is global in scope, and particularly strong in footage of the developing world, including footage from all continents and hundreds of unique cultures. Many videos are published here online for the first time and the collection also has photographs, field notes, study guides, and more.Pravda Digital Archive (1912-2009) offers access to over 90 years of an important chronicle of Russian and Soviet history. The JHU Libraries also subscribe to the current edition of Pravda. Roper Center/iPoll provides access to data from one of the world's leading archives of social science data, specializing in data from surveys of public opinion. The data held by the Roper Center range from the 1930s to the present.Roubini Global Economics (formerly RGE Monitor), founded by New York University economist Nouriel Roubini, provides detailed coverage and timely updates on international macroeconomic, financial and banking, geo-strategic and geo-political topics, including original research and analysis of the world’s most important economies, emerging markets, frontier markets, and asset classes. Contents are sourced from news, research, analysis, blogs, important speeches, and data. Users can subscribe via RSS to email newsletters on particular topics or countries or to the RGE Economonitors. SAIS Librarians are particularly pleased with this new acquisition - it is popular with SAIS economists!

Roubini Global Economics (formerly RGE Monitor), founded by New York University economist Nouriel Roubini, provides detailed coverage and timely updates on international macroeconomic, financial and banking, geo-strategic and geo-political topics, including original research and analysis of the world’s most important economies, emerging markets, frontier markets, and asset classes. Contents come from news, research, analysis, blogs, important speeches, and data. You can even subscribe to receive email newsletters on particular topics/countries or get the RGE Economonitors via RSS.SAIS has been trying to get Roubini for years, so please try it!
